Today it’s Xavier Chabin‘s turn to speak in this new Tiger Talks interview! He tells us about his role as CG Supervisor Image on The Tiger’s Apprentice:
- To start, can you tell us more about your journey in animation?
I began working with Mikros Animation on Asterix, The Mansion of the Gods as a Lead Lighting artist in Belgium through Nwave. After that experience, I decided to move to Canada, and after a year working for MPC in VFX, I chose to return to Mikros Animation for a production in 2015. Eventually, I never left the company.
- What was your role on TA as an CG Supervisor Image?
As a CG Supervisor specialized in the back-end, I oversaw the final aspects of the project’s imagery. My role was to ensure the visual and technical coherence of the film by closely collaborating with both the technical and creative teams. I played a key role in overcoming challenges, such as managing the rendering of demons, each having their own special effects and lighting systems. In summary, my involvement in the back-end was crucial in delivering a high-quality final rendering for the TA project.
- What were the main artistic and technical challenges on TA?
One of the significant challenges we faced on TA was the intricate task of managing the rendering process for the demons. Each demon was designed with distinct special effects and individualized lighting systems, adding a layer of complexity to the project. To address this demanding aspect, our team diligently worked on finding innovative solutions to ensure the effective rendering of each demon, maintaining visual consistency and quality throughout the film. This collaborative problem-solving approach proved essential in overcoming the technical hurdles associated with the diverse and intricate visual elements in the project.
- What’s your favorite character?
My favorite character in the film is Sydney because his comedic presence adds a delightful element to the storyline. Additionally, the fact that he shares my zodiac sign adds a personal touch to my choice. Overall, Sydney’s humor and the connection to my zodiac sign make him my top pick in the movie.
- Describe the film in 3 words 😊
Asia, Action, Fantasy
- Any final words?
I want to thank the entire film team because it wasn’t an easy production with all the various changes. They all persevered and gave their best. Kudos to you all!
Thanks Xavier!
