Discover the answers of Thierry Pinardaud – Executive Producer Episodic & IP at Mikros Animation Paris :
What is the best part of your job?
My job is to supervise the entire production of an animated series, generally 52 episodes of 11 minutes, from the writing of the scripts to the delivery of the final master; The best aspect is the diversity of the profiles and people I work with: from scriptwriters to drawers, storyboarders, through the various 3D positions, but also musicians, sound engineers or dubbing actors!
What was the first project you worked on when you joined Mikros Animation?
I started on the series The Coop Troop, which we are co-producing with the company 16 South in Ireland, for France Télévisions and the Tencent platform, with an ambitious challenge in terms of rendering quality, which I think we met!
Share your student and professional path to your position at Mikros Animation!
I did an undergraduate degree in audiovisual fiction and TV project management. A 2nd cycle where I obtained the diploma of Master Engineer in computerised communications, and finally a 3rd cycle in DESS in computer graphics.
After my military service (yes, it was 1995!) I started my career in a post-production studio as a foley editor/infographer (on the first virtual stations), colorist and also TV set manager. After 6 years spent in TV studios and sets, I joined an animation studio (Caribara animation) as Production Manager and then Production Director.
In 2006 I continued at Gaumont animation as Production Director on 2 series and a feature film. In 2009, I accepted an offer from a young production company, Mondo TV France, where I was Production Director and then Executive Producer.
From 2015 to 2018 I chose to become a freelance consultant with various missions for French producers and/or studios (Xilam, Bayard Animation, Technicolor Animation productions…) before coming back to Mondo TV France until 2021, when I joined Mikros Animation to deal specifically with series in production or in service!
