Our Mikros Animation Bangalore studio is going under the Mikroscope! We asked our creative talent 8 questions so you that you can get to know them, their experience in VFX, and their successes. At the end, they in turn pass the baton to one of their colleagues to go under the Mikroscope.

Today we spotlight Raghuram Palasamudram, Head of CG at Mikros Animation, who talks about his career highlights, favourite characters, inspirations, superpowers, and an insight into his role at Mikros Animation.

What is the best part of your job?

As a Head of CG, I am fortunate to have the chance to work with the latest technology and collaborate with incredible people to produce amazing visuals for a variety of projects. This work is both incredibly rewarding and challenging, and I get the opportunity to be part of the process of bringing ideas to life. It is a privilege to be a part of this incredible journey and to create visuals that not only entertain but also shape the world. I take great pride in the work I do, and it is a rewarding career to be in.

What was the first project you worked on when you joined Mikros Animation?

DreamWorks The Croods: Family Tree was my first show at Mikros Animation.

I have always been passionate about art and have always strived to further my knowledge and skill. After completing a computer graphics course at Pentamedia, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the animation industry. I was determined to make a difference and I set out to do so.

For the past 23 years, I have worked in some of the top animation studios around the world, gaining valuable experience and knowledge at different levels of the industry. I have been able to apply all that I have learned to my current role as Head of CG at Mikros.

Who or what inspires you?

A Bug’s Life is a movie that will always remain close to my heart. It has been an inspiration to me for many years, and I’m sure it will continue to be an inspiration for many years to come. The movie sparked my desire to get into the animation industry and make a positive impact.

If you had to be a character in Mikros Animation’s films and series, who would you be?

Phil from The Croods is an excellent choice. He is an incredibly intelligent and creative character who is constantly inventing new ideas.

Your biggest achievement so far?

Working at Lucasfilm was a career highlight for me. One of the most memorable moments was when I got to meet George Lucas in person. It was an incredible honour to be in his presence, and I was humbled by his knowledge and insights. I still feel fortunate to have had the chance to work at Lucasfilm and meet George Lucas. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What would be your superpower?β€―

If I could have any superpower I desired, I would choose the power of flight. There is something so freeing and empowering about soaring through the sky, looking down at the world below. Being able to fly would give me the ultimate freedom. I could travel anywhere in the world in a fraction of the time and explore places I’ve never been before.

What advice would you give to your younger self?β€―

If I could give advice to my younger self, it would be to prioritise the basics: eat, sleep, and exercise. Eating a balanced diet and getting enough sleep are key to living a healthy life. Exercise is also important and can help to improve physical and mental health.

It’s your turn to name someone from Mikros Animation to answer these 8 questions!

I nominate Kaushik Bose
