Our Mikros Animation Bangalore studio is going under the Mikroscope! We asked our creative talent 8 questions so you that you can get to know them, their experience in VFX, and their successes. At the end, they in turn pass the baton to one of their colleagues to go under the Mikroscope.

Today we spotlight Kushal R – Junior Artist, Rigging at Mikros Animation, who talks about their first project since joining Mikros, biggest inspirations, superpowers, and gives us an insight into their role at Mikros Animation.

What is the best part of your job? 

When passion and profession becomes the same, work will be filled with immense joy. You won’t feel tired or bored while working. That’s why I have extra energy to deliver quality work on time. 

What was the first project you worked on when you joined Mikros Animation?  

When I started working at Mikros, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks was the first project I worked on, but that was for a brief period as it was nearly completed. My first real project here was Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years.

Share your student and professional background to get to your position at Mikros Animation! 

I hold a diploma in Multimedia from Toon 2 Mysuru. In 2018, I started working with Vidwath Innovative Solutions in Mysuru, and in 2019 I joined a 3D Advance course in Pixelloid, Bengaluru. Based on this experience, I entered 3D animation production at Xentrix, where I worked for two years.  I had the opportunity to join Mikros Animation in October 2021.

Who or what inspires you? 

Animation is all about the amalgamation of Art and Technology. Technical Art is what inspires me the most. To create an imaginary world using technology and art gives me immense pleasure and encouragement. All of these can be seen in Anime, CGI, VFX and Gaming. That is my driving force. 

If you had to be a character in Mikros Animation’s films and series, who would you be? 

I would be SpongeBob. Just because he is so silly and fun!!

Your biggest achievement so far? 

Delivering Season 2 of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years was quite challenging. The way we managed to deliver it within an agreed time frame and quality was recognised and appreciated by the client. Being appreciated by the client for the characters rigs has been my greatest achievement so far to highlight. 

What would be your superpower?  

I would love to have the power to manipulate the 4th dimension, i.e. TIME. 
 
What advice would you give to your younger self?  

There’s one very important piece of advice I’d give my younger self: In any challenging situation when it’s mentally tough to handle things, only one principle has to be followed. Instead of pushing it away, just be in the space , take the best possible actions and let time pass. Things will settle down on their own.  

I believe, you only have a right to action (karma) and not to the fruits of your karma. Do not become a person who constantly meditates upon (gets attached to) the results of one’s karma. Do not get attached to inactivity (no karma).
