We’re excited to see two projects we had the privilege of contributing to featured in Collider’s Top 10 Animated Movies of 2024! Here’s how our teams helped bring these stories to life:

✨ #9: The Tiger’s Apprentice
Directed by Raman Hui, Yong Duk Jhun, and Paul Watling, The Tiger’s Apprentice is a breathtaking adaptation of Laurence Yep’s beloved novel. The Paris and Montreal studios of Mikros Animation worked on every visual detail, from designing vibrant, modern settings to choreographing action-packed battle scenes and animating richly detailed characters.

Each zodiac warrior was uniquely crafted, blending cultural influences with cutting-edge animation techniques. Released on Paramount+ in February 2024, this film marks a proud milestone for Mikros Animation, showcasing our ability to bring ambitious, visually stunning stories to life.

✨ #5: Orion and the Dark
Directed by Sean Charmatz, this DreamWorks film explores deep themes like fear and memory with an innovative animation style. Mikros Animation’s Paris and Bangalore teams created a unique, handmade aesthetic in 3D, giving the movie a raw and natural quality.

Sean Charmatz explained that the team embraced creative constraints to innovate: “We wanted something that felt natural, a bit rough around the edges, like it was handmade.” This artistic approach, paired with expressive animation and subtle details, brought Orion’s nighttime journey to life in a deeply emotional way.

These two films are a testament to the talent and dedication of our teams, who constantly push the boundaries of animation to tell unforgettable stories.
