The Mikros Animation team had a brilliant day at the Kids, Animation and More Summit (KAM) 2022 on 26th August. The KAM Summit 2022 was themed ‘Celebrating the New Dawn’, and it explored, evaluated, and imagined values, beliefs, avenues, technologies, strategies, intentions, and new levels of purpose for the animation industry.
Among the attendees were Indian and international industry veterans and media leaders who shared information about the animation industry’s progress, new trends, evolution of NFTs, metaverse, virtual workstation adoption, and skill gaps. A number of industry leaders were on the summit’s advisory board, including Russell Tracy Jr., Head of Creative Operations, Mikros Animation, and Manoj A. Menon, Creative Director, Mikros Animation.
From meeting the next generation of animators and visual effects artists to hearing key insights into the industry from India’s experts in animation and entertainment, it was an action-packed event.
In a creative presentation in his inimitable graphic novel style, Manoj A Menon shared his journey as an animator and the Mikros Animation story. Manoj had sketched his story in a format catered to students and industry veterans alike. The crowd-pleasing session included highlights of the studio’s most exciting current projects, such as Ozi: Voice of the Forest and episodic projects – Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, Star Trek Prodigy, etc.
At the panel discussion on ‘People factor in the new world animation’, five talent industry veterans shared their thoughts, including Sandeep Sharma, Head of Academies – Technicolor India. Moderated by Biren Ghose, the speakers touched upon AI and human creators, changes in the industry’s working style, what the next few years of animation may look like and more.
The Ann Awards showcased the best of Indian animation and the night ended on a high with the awards ceremony.
