Motion design is a technique that is increasingly used in advertising, communication, and contemporary art, but also in live-action film credits. It has its own distinctive aesthetics and graphic codes. But can we consider motion design as animation? What are its creative potential and limitations?

Join Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles VFX Supervisor Matthieu Rouxel from Mikros Animation for a discussion about the stylized animated feature’s lighting and look development process. While breaking down some of the techniques used, Matthieu will share Mikros’ approach to producing stylized looks and how they bridged shading, surfacing, and lighting when using Katana, a powerful look development and lighting tool.
