PGS Entertainment has secured deals in several territories for the upcoming second season of Gus, The Itsy Bitsy Knight.
Tiny Pop (UK), DeAKids (Italy), Canal Panda (Portugal), UYoung Culture & Media (China), Showmax (Africa), IFC Media (Slovakia) and TV New Zealand are among the broadcasters that have licensed the next instalment, which is expected to premiere in April 2023.
Produced by French studio Technicolor Animation Productions, Gus, The Itsy Bitsy Knight was originally commissioned in 2019 by TF1 France and Disney Germany.
The CG-animated series (52 x 11 minutes) stars a tiny knight with big dreams who embarks on adventures in the medieval kingdom of Karamel with his laser sword and electric pony. Conquering challenges and helping friends along the way, Gus shows that anything can be overcome with a good heart.
Targeting the four to seven demo, the show’s first season made its TV debut in late 2021, and is now airing in more than 100 territories and 21 languages.
Other broadcasters that have already signed on for season two include TF1 (France), RTVE (Spain), RTP (Portugal), NRK (Norway), MTVA (Hungary), Teletoon+/Minimini+/TV Puls (Poland), Televisa (Mexico), Radio Canada, Knowledge Network (Canada), HBO Max (LatAm), Cartoonito (LatAm and Brazil) and Myndform (Iceland).
Mattel has also confirmed the 2022 European rollout of a toy collection based on the series—featuring figures, playsets, plush and vehicles—with a global rollout scheduled for 2023. The toyco signed a multi-year global licensing agreement with PGS Entertainment for the IP in 2020.
