In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we spoke with Mikros talent about how they fell head-over-heals in love with animation, characters that hold a special place in their hearts, and artists that they admire.
Today we’re shining a spotlight on Artist (Animation), Aishwarya Vivek out of our Bangalore studio.
How and when did you discover your love for animation?
Like most children, I grew up watching animated movies and series. From childhood, I was very curious about animation, and I used to believe all the characters on screen were real. I wondered how they created the small characters in the shows I watched, and that curious child in me never left.
If you could give a Valentine to any Mikros Animated character, who would it be and why?
Po from Kung Fu Panda. He is the perfect combination of awesome, cute, and furious! The main thing I like about is that he’s so cuddly and adorable. He is always there for you, in good and bad times. Also, he cooks well and loves food. I can definitely say we’d be a good match!
Which character do you most admire?
Po again! He has adorable qualities, and admirable ones as well. He always motivates you when you are going through a tough period in life. He never gives up.
Which artists in the industry do you admire? Who has been your biggest inspiration?
There are numerous animators whose work I appreciate for their originality, storytelling abilities, and aesthetic taste. These artists’ work continues to enthrall viewers of all ages and has inspired numerous people in the profession and beyond. They distinguish themselves as some of the best storytellers in the business thanks to their originality, ingenuity, and innovation. Their distinctive aesthetics have inspired me, and their work continues to push the limits of what is conceivable in animation. Additionally, they have shown that animation is a powerful and adaptable storytelling medium that is not exclusively for kids. They exhibit the capacity of animation to arouse feelings, stimulate the imagination, and unite people. Some of the artists who’ve inspired me include:
Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese film director, animator, screenwriter, and manga artist known for his imaginative and visually stunning works such as Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.
Genndy Tartakovsky, a Russian-American animator, film director, and producer best known for projects like Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Hotel Transylvania.
John Lasseter, an American animator, film director, and co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios, who created iconic work on Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, and Cars.
Hanna-Barbera, an American animation studio, well known for its comedic and entertaining classics, such as The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and The Jetsons.
