Meet Surbhi Jauhari, Senior Animator, sharing her insights on working for Thelma the Unicorn!

• Can you introduce yourself and elaborate on your role in Thelma the Unicorn?

Hello, I am Surbhi Jauhari, and I’ve been with Mikros Animation, Bangalore since 2021, as a Senior Animator. Over the course of my time here, I have contributed to numerous projects, with my most recent endeavour being ‘Thelma the Unicorn’. I found my experience with this project immensely enjoyable

• Did you read the book before working on the film?

I didn’t read the book; rather, I acquainted myself with the story while actively working on the project. 

• What were the main artistic and technical challenges?

In projects like this, acting choices play a significant role. This movie is brimming with countless gags, and it’s crucial to animate them in a humorous and authentic manner while working on it.

• What is your favorite character and sequence?

I really enjoy the characters Otis and Thelma, and my favourite sequence is when Thelma decides to reveal her true self to everyone. Another favourite is the one where auditions are taking place.

• A final word?

I would like to thank my lead, Ashar Siddiqui and my teammate, Anju Francis, who helped me understand the process of adding crowds into the scenes.
